With a 4-position orbital lever and a seven-position speed dial, the Porter-Cable PC600JS jig saw provides optimal cutting performance and versatility. Its 6.0-Amp heavy-duty motor handles tough applications while powering variable speeds from 0-3200 strokes per minute (SPM), optimizing cutting in multiple materials and various applications.
Ideal for cutting plywood, sink cutouts, scrollwork, art projects, shelving, as well as cutting designs into dimensional lumber, the PC600JS also offers simple tool-free bevel adjustments at 0, 15, 30 and 45 degrees plus four orbital settings that enable you to adjust the cutting performance to fit the material. I'm a week in and I've tackled two projects. So far, so good. I always do a bunch of research before buying anything and have landed on Porter-Cable tools twice in the last two months. This one and a circular saw. I feel like it's a better build quality than the Skils and the B;D's and you're not paying for all that brand that the Dewalt, Milwaukee, and Bosch stuff automatically comes with. Plus, I'm not a pro, so I don't need something top-of-the-line.
It's hard to rate because it's the first jigsaw I've ever owned or even used. But, it did exactly what I wanted it to do, right out of the box. What else can I ask for?
To respond to another review, I haven't noticed a leaning blade. Maybe it's just my particular tool. It cuts as straight as my hand and eyes can make it cut.
The first time I turned it on, it was on the lowest settings possible and the blade was moving up and down at about 55 RPM's: 1....2....3....4...5. At this point I questioned my purchase, but then I cranked it up to the max and sliced through the plywood and aspen boards I was cutting with ease.
I'd buy it again.
EDIT: Months in and around 10 or so projects later, the saw has gotten better (because I've gotten better at using it). It earns my five-star rating easily.

I replaced my old Craftsman Jig Saw with this PC orbital recently and wished I would have made the upgrade sooner.
This is a great Saw, I really like the speed control and how easy it is to reach. You can even change the speed on the fly, and the T type blades are super easy to change. Now I can pull out the blade every time before storing, I have broke many blades just moving my old saw around from place to place.
GREAT JIG SAW for the money.
